language * beged * clothing * covering * body – soul * deceit * mask
The word “beged” means both “clothing” and “ forging”. In this we are shown once again how language represents the core of things, for the reason why things have a garment is to cover up an essence. Man received an animal-garment to cover up his real being, to protect him from the attacks of that which presents itself as snake, because in his animal-garment man hardly arouses any jealousy. Should he appear with that which he was in reality, another attack would follow. So the garment is in a sense a deceit, as the word “beged” states. Indeed every covering is there to hide the essential. We would be frightened by the beauty and the potentials of the essential of man if we were to see how this was. We are already used to the chilling caused by the garment, and we accept this mask, this forge, as something normal.
